Health Unit Levy Frozen

The Northwestern Health Unit has frozen its municipal levy
for the 2007 budget.

The board of the Health Unit approved a per capita levy
of 54 dollars and 33 cents at its November meeting.

Dr. Pete Sarsfield is the Medical Officer of Health for the region and says with increased funding from the province this year, they will be able to hire more staff next year.

N006 Q: …smaller places. (22 secs.)

Sarsfield says that because the population of the region
has declined in the past year, the amount of funding generated from local municipalities has dropped by 86 thousand dollars.
