Health Unit Looking At Supervised Consumption Sites

The Northwestern Health Unit is looking for feedback on safe injection sites in the region.

A survey is now available for supervised consumption sites.

These are legally sanctioned spaces where people are allowed to use pre-obtained illegal drugs in a clean, safe, and supportive environment.

No illegal drugs can be acquired on site.

The hope is to reduce overdose related injuries and death, help reduce public drug use, improperly discarded needles, and minimize the risks related to sharing or reusing drug-use equipment.

The Health Unit is doing a feasibility study to assess the need for of these services in Kenora, Dryden, Fort Frances, and Sioux Lookout.
