The board of the Northwestern Health Unit hopes it can announce the appointment of a new Medical Officer of Health before the end of this year.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield is retiring at the end of this month,
and the Health Unit has spent several months searching for his replacement.
Last week, a committee set up by the Health Unit conducted interviews with a couple of candidates.
Chair of the committee, Gerry O’Leary says even if their preferred candidate accepts the job, the province still has to formally approve the appointment.
