Health Unit Weighs In on Vaccination Debate

Outbreaks of measles both in Canada and the U.S. are intensifying the debate over vaccinations.
Health officials in the U.S. link an outbreak that originated at Disneyland to children who were not vaccinated.
Manager of Infectious Diseases at the Northwestern Health Unit Donna Stanley says vaccinations rates are quite high in the region with between 90 and 95 % of children receiving booster shots.
She adds that a study linking vaccinations with autism has been pretty much discredited.
There have been no confirmed cases of measles in northwestern Ontario.
