A Heat Warning has been issued for the entire northwest region.
Trudy Kidd from Environment Canada says there’s a good chance we’ll break some temperature records this week.
“No record broken yesterday. Today’s got a great chance. Previous record that I dug up was 30.6 set back in 2003. I mean the longevity of this event speaks volumes I think because none of those records were broken in a row.”
The temperature could reach as high as 34 degrees with the humidex feeling like 41.
Minimum temperatures will be in the 17 to 22 range.
Kidd says the hot, sticky weather will stay here until Thursday night.
A few reminders from Environment Canada:
-Watch for the effects of heat illness including swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
-Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
-Check on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water
-Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.
-Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
