The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is getting a big boost from the provincial government.
In yesterday’s Throne Speech, the Liberals promised to increase funding for the Heritage fund by 40 million dollars, up to 100 million dollars a year.
Michael Gravelle is the Minister of Northern Development and Mines and chair of the Heritage Fund board and says its too early to say where the extra money will be spent.

Gravelle says the Throne Speech has a number of positive announcements which will impact northern Ontario, including new program for aboriginal communities, and a re-committment to the Forest Prosperity Fund.
