High School Teachers Approve Contract

Public high school teachers and support staff have endorsed a revised contract with the provincial government.
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation says its members voted 84% in favour of the new pact, which amends
components of the working conditions imposed in January by Bill 115.
Under the new deal, teachers will get improved maternity leave and sick day benefits, as well as fewer unpaid days off.
Tory education critic Lisa MacLeod estimates the deal will cost $114-million, despite the Liberals and the union saying it is cost-neutral.
She says it will impact kids in the classroom.
O-S-S-T-F President Ken Coran says the agreement respects the fiscal parameters defined by the province and addresses
“problematic” issues in the imposed contract.
