The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and Rainy River District School Board are leading a regional effort to introduce high speed Internet to all area schools.
The province is spending $3.5-million on the Bell Canada program.
The initiative sets up Internet hub sites in communities from Marathon to the Ontario-Manitoba boundary.
The first hub site is expected to be in place by the end of the year with the entire project, connecting schools and boards, completed by next March.
Officials note the move will result in significant cost savings for area school boards.
