Update: Highway 17 Fully Open Again

A section of the Trans Canada Highway between Vermilion Bay and Kenora is open again.

The Ministry of Transportation had to repair a section of road where there was a substantial hole in the highway near Richard Lake, about 50 kilometers, east of Kenora.

Highway 17 was closed for several hours before repairs could be made.

The MTO says both lanes are now open.

In the meantime, Highway 601 near McGogy Road in the Dryden area has been closed due to a washout.

In the meantime, Highway 71 near Sioux Narrows has been re-opened.

It was closed due to flooding in three areas north of the community overnight.
