Highway 17 Open To One Lane Of Traffic

Highway 17 between Vermilion Bay and Kenora is now open to one lane of traffic following a major collision this morning.
Police say the Ministry of Transportation is escorting vehicles and will be doing so until the rest of the debris can be cleaned up.
OPP warn significant delays can be expected.
The highway was closed just before 1 o’clock due to a pileup involving 14 transports.
Police say icy road conditions caused the crash and several tractor trailer units were sent into the ditch near Nelson Granite.
Officers from Dryden and Kenora as well as ambulance and Machin Fire personnel all attended the scene.
Amazingly no major injuries were reported.
