A large home on Highway 594 was destroyed following a major fire Tuesday night.
Oxdrift crews were called to the blaze just before 6 o’clock and noticed smoke coming out of the attic vents.
Firefighters were then driven out of the basement by intense heat and smoke buildup.
It soon turned into a 10-hour long battle in harsh winter conditions, with Dryden, Oxdrift, Machin and Wabigoon Fire crews all involved.
A roof collapse, frozen equipment and hidden fire pockets all hampered efforts.
In total, more then 44 firefighters and 13-units were involved in fighting the fire which was finally extinguished at 4 Wednesday morning.
The cause is under investigation.
No one was injured.
