The pride and joy of the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board will be front and centre this week.
The Board’s newly introduced ‘Hockey Academy’ will be featured by CBC’s Peter Mansbridge.
Television crews were in Kenora and Sioux Lookout recently for filming.
The hockey program has been a huge hit in three local communities and officials stress it has enhanced student education and achievement.
The 15-minute segment is scheduled to air during Wednesday’s ‘The National’ at 10:00pm.
Meantime, the Public School Board is planning to expand its Hockey Canada Skills Academy.
Specific details haven’t been released but the Board says the program will be implemented in the Red Lake and Ear Falls area this September.
It will also be expanded in Dryden and Sioux Lookout to accommodate more students.
For those seeking more details about the academy in Dryden, there will be an Open House January 27th at the Arena and New Prospect School.
