The Pinecrest Home For the Aged is asking municipalities in the Kenora District for more money this year.
The long term care provider, which operates homes in Dryden, Red Lake and Kenora, has requested a 35-percent increase in its annual levy.
Administrator Kevin Queen says because the province has not increased funding, their only other choice is to get more money from municipalities.
Queen says the main reason for the increase this year is the addition of 65 new long term care beds at Dryden’s Princess Court.
Some municipalities, including the City of Dryden, fear the higher levy could mean a tax increase for ratepayers this year.
