A cross-country walk to raise awareness of youth mental health is scheduled to arrive in Dryden next Monday.
Anishnabek Police Officer Kevin Redsky is the founder of “Hope in the Darkness” and he’s been on the road since April 1st.
Redsky will make a presentation at a community Pancake Breakfast at 7:30 July 23rd at the Masonic Hall.
The event is being organized by Dryden Police and the public is being encouraged to walk with them after the breakfast.
There will be My Lift service at the cemetery to take you back to the Masonic Hall.
Community Services Officer Denise Szachury was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Tuesday to talk about the walk and the community event.
Szachury says the Redsky walk provides police officers, youth and mental health workers the opportunity to take a stand on youth mental health and the supports that are needed.
She stresses it’s important to provide a platform for young people to share mental health success stories.
