A chilly but exciting day as the ribbon is cut for the newly rebuilt Hoshizaki House in Dryden.
The old building was torn down in August of 2017, but after a lot of work, the women’s shelter is ready to open its doors again.
Board Chair Dallas Ledsham is excited since the new building is a big step up as it is 8000 square feet compared to the previous building’s 3000 square feet.
Ledsham also mentions that they are happy they were still able to keep the great central location in the City that they have.
She says the new building came about with the help of the government as well a local partners such as local school boards, Firefly, Rotary and many others.
One local donation includes over 2000 dollars worth of hair products donated to the shelter by Robert Beasant at Calypso Hair Fashions.
The grand re-opening was also noted by Kenora MP Bob Nault and the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Lisa MacLeod.
Shannon Peters performed a song with a special cake being served shortly after.
