It was a struggle, but the Dryden Regional Health Centre has balanced the books for 2011-2012.
The Board has approved an operating budget of $21.7-million.
The budget is based on a 0% increase in funding from the Province and doesn’t take into effect future contract settlements.
CEO Wade Petranik says the capital budget is set at $532,000.
Approved capital work includes solar panels for the Family Health Team Building and equipment for the physiotherapy department.
Petranik says they aren’t taking into account a faulty boiler unit, which needs to be fixed or replaced.
He believes they will receive $220,000 from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for that project.
The Hospital is facing a roughly $21,000 shortfall right now as well as a small deficit on the capital side, but Petranik strongly believes the deficits will be made up in other areas.
