The Dryden Regional Health Centre is taking action following a serious breach of code of conduct.
The announcement comes following an incident where an unnamed emergency room doctor used inappropriate language while attending to a First Nations patient and his family.
Bob Stevens is Chair of the Board of Directors at the Hospital and he says they regret the incident.
Stevens says staff will be conducting a review of all of its programs and services to ensure that everyone has the appropriate training and skills in providing culturally appropriate health care and support to First Nations and aboriginal people.
The review will be conducted with assistance from the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre.
Stevens adds the hospital strives to have a health centre that is inclusive and respectful of all races, cultures and creeds.
Stevens isn’t commenting on whether or not the doctor faces disciplinary action.
