Household Hazardous Waste Days Back In Dryden

Household Hazardous Waste Day is once again being offered in Dryden this year.
The clean-up event is set for September 14th at the Public Works Yard.
Manager of Public Works Blake Poole is encouraging everyone to get involved.
The public is encouraged to collect any battery, paint can or any other household waste and drop them off for free.
Poole says the initiative is aimed at diverting items away from the landfill site and helping the environment.
He notes the program has been huge success since its inception in 1991.
Roughly 3,400 households participate in Household Hazardous Waster Day and Poole says they collect an average of 10-tonnes of waste each year.
Poole says the Dryden Rotary Club will once again help collect items.
The initiative is a partnership between Dryden, Kenora and Fort Frances and is fully funded by the province.
