Hudson Mill Being Shutdown For Unknown Amount Of Time

An indefinite shutdown for the McKenzie Forest Products Mill in Hudson.
United Steelworkers Union Local representative Jason Lacko says the curtailment will be done in stages with the purging of all saw log inventory in September and plane all existing lumber and ship package lumber in October.
He says once all inventories are moved the mill will shutdown.
Lacko says they don’t yet know a future start-up date and notes roughly 60-unionized members are impacted.
He notes the main is concern is for their members and when the mill will fire up again and what it will mean to local tradespeople.
Lacko adds the move is due to sluggish North American housing markets and the prevailing business conditions impacting North American stud manufactures.
