An Etobicoke man has been convicted under the Endangered Species Act for illegally shooting 2-woodland caribou in the Red Lake area.
Court heard that Ciriaco Cautillo mistook the caribou for moose last October.
Cautillo immediately reported his mistake to the Ministry of Natural Resources.
An investigation found that the hunter had a clear and unobstructed view of both caribou as they crossed an open meadow and there were no factors to account for his error.
He has been fined $3,000.
