Hunter Slapped With $2,000 Fine

Proof that it’s costly to hunt illegally in Northwestern Ontario.
A New York State man has been fined $2,000 after he illegally hunted a deer and littered near Sioux Narrows.
Last October, conservation officers responded to a complaint of a deer hanging by a tree, untagged.
Officers contacted Dave Paul Smith and determined that he had shot, gutted and hung the deer two days earlier.
The Ministry of Natural Resources wants to remind hunters that if they have harvested a deer, they must do it right after the kill and attach a game seal to it.
