The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was kept busy during the opening of hunting season.
Conservation officers checked some 4,768 hunters during a ten day enforcement blitz in northwestern and northeastern Ontario.
A total of 132 charges were laid and 329 warnings were handed out.
They were issued for:
-failing to wear a proper helmet on an ATV
-having open liquor in a vehicle
-having a loaded firearm in a vehicle
-not wearing proper hunting orange
-night-hunting offences
-shooting from the road
-trespassing for the purpose of hunting
Officers also seized 32 moose that were harvested illegally.
