Police and the Northwestern Ontario Snowmobile Trails Association are again reminding the public to take precautions if you are traveling on the ice.
Reports have come in across the District about unsafe ice conditions and people falling through.
The heavy snow has caused a great deal of slush and very thin ice, especially close to the shore.
Officials recommend that you check ice conditions before venturing out and that you equip yourself with emergency kits.
OPP ask that snowmobilers always tell someone where they are headed.
