Ice Dogs Clinch Third

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs have clinched third in the SIJHL standings and have a realistic shot at second.

The Ice Dogs blasted English River 8-3 Wednesday night, setting up a second round match-up with the Minnesota Iron Rangers.

Home ice advantage has yet to be decided.

Dryden GM erupted for six goals in the third period to secure the victory.

Cole Golka once again led the way with three goals.

Ryan Hron added a pair, while Jonathan Philley, Blake Berg and Zach Kercz also found the back of the net..

Taylor Bargar, Alex Maticic and Kirk Coppock replied for the Miners.

Dryden GM outshot English River 43-22.

The Ice Dogs are one point back of Minnesota for second.

The Iron Rangers play Thunder Bay Friday, while the Dogs are back in Ear Falls Saturday.

English River will battle the North Stars in a Best-of-5 opening round playoff.
