As expected it was a tight pair of games as the top two teams in the SIJHL went head to head in Dryden Friday and Saturday night. This time the North Stars got 4 out of four points on the road against the Ice Dogs after a 4-2 win Friday night and a 6-5 ovetime win Saturday night. On Friday the second period was the difference as the Ice Dogs and Stars traded goals in the first and third. Brendan MacDonald and Jordan Chong scored for Dryden Shaun Szachury faced 40 shots in the loss. On Saturday the Ice Dogs gave up 4 goals in the first but battle back with 5 straight goals to take the lead before the midway point of the third. The Stars tied it up and then scored the overtime winner halfway through the extra frame. Scoring for Dryden were Tyler Tesch with 2 while Dale Logel, Cory Smith and Jared Bruyere each notched singles. Ryan Michaud was pulled after 2 goals on 5 shots and Shaun Szachury gave up 4 goals on 20 shots for the combined loss. The Dogs will stay at home for a rare Wednesday night game against the Bull Dogs this week.
