Ice Dogs Drop Diesels

Make it a 4 point lead and a tie for the scoring race after the Dryden Ice Dogs thumped the Scheiber Diesels 7-2 at home Friday night. The Ice Dogs once again got off to a slow start but held off the early pressure put on by the visitors to lead 2-0 after the first and 5-2 after the second. Nicolas Doiron is now tied with team mate Colin McIntosh atop the SIJHL scoring race after a 3 goal 2 assist performance to pace the Dogs. Rowan Bruetsch, Ryan Helbling and Cody Jefferies all potted singles. Paul Peterson chipped in with a goal and 4 assists. Sonny Albert made 33 saves for the win between the pipes. Dryden now holds a 4 point lead over the Fort William North Stars after the Fort Frances Junior Sabres scored a 2-1 overtime win over the Star at the Fort William Gardens. Dryden will now have a week to rest before a weekend set against the Thunder Bay Bulldogs in Thunder Bay next Saturday and Sunday.
