A tough start to the SIJHL season for the Dryden Ice Dogs.
Defensive miscues, missed chances and bad bounces hurt the Dogs in a 7-2 loss Friday night against the Thunder Bay Bearcats.
The Bearcats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and carried a 7-0 lead into the third when Nicolas Doiron and Trevor Lind beat Rene Berube.
Graeme Harrington suffered the loss.
The Ice Dogs took a couple of positives out of the game, winning the 3rd period 2-1 and playing a well disciplined game.
Dryden will look for the split Saturday night at 6:30 CST.
In other SIJHL action, the Fort William North Stars beat the Schreiber Diesels 5-2.
