It was a much better effort for the Dryden Ice Dogs Saturday night against the Thunder Bay Bearcats.
The Ice Dogs dropped a 4-3 decision in a back and forth affair.
Rowen Bruetsch, Chris Kitt and Colin McIntosh found the back of the net for Dryden who outshot the Bearcats 44-28.
Colton Kennedy scored the winner for Thunder Bay with 9 minutes remaining on a power play.
Sonny Albert suffered the loss in his first SIJHL game.
In other action Saturday, Schreiber surprised the North Stars 3-2 and Fort Frances and the Bulldogs played to a 3-3 tie.
On Sunday, Fort William downed Marathon 8-2.
The next game for the Ice Dogs is Friday night against the 1-0-1 Sabres.
The contest is the Dryden Ice Dogs Home Opener.
