A four minute power-play proved to be the unexpected downfall of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Tuesday night.
With the Dogs up 1-0 on a Jonathan Philley first period power-play goal and in control of the game, the Dogs were given a chance to pad their lead late in the second with the lengthy man advantage.
However all of a sudden two turnovers resulted in short-handed breakaway goals from Lucas Debenedect and Cody Antonini 30-seconds apart as the Fort Frances Lakers stunned the Dryden GM Ice Dogs 2-1.
Tate Sproxton was once again outstanding for the Dogs with 39-saves.
It was a costly loss as the Minnesota Iron Rangers dumped Thunder Bay 6-1 to move into sole possession of third place.
Those two teams meet again Wednesday evening.
