Adam Smith couldn’t ask for a better SIJHL debut.
The Dryden Ice Dogs new acquisition recorded 2-goals and an assist and made his physical presence known in a 5-2 win over Wisconsin Wednesday night.
His linemate Chris Sitko had 2-goals and 2-assists in the victory.
The Ice Dogs scored four unanswered goals after falling behind early 2-1.
Tim Kavanaugh also found the back of the net, while Cody Kaus notched a pair of helpers.
It was a tight checking, hard hitting affair as Dryden outshot Wisconsin 27-26.
Dryden played their most physical game of the year in the win.
Smith, who came from B.C. and is a former WHL’er, says he was pleased with his role in the first game and thankful for the opportunity.
The power forward was primarily used as an enforcer during his time with Portland and Spokane in the WHL.
He added he’s looking forward to the rest of the season in Dryden.
In other SIJHL action, the Fort Frances Lakers were pushed to the limit for a second straight game.
This time the Lakers were on the winning end of a 6-5 victory over Minnesota in a shootout.
