Hockey season is fast approaching and the Dryden GM Ice Dogs are in need of billet families.
Shawna Fadden, Shawna Sveinson and 7-year-old Dillon Sveinson were guests on the CKDR Morning Show Friday.
All stressed that taking in a player or two is a worthwhile experience.
Fadden says having players around is a lot of fun and they are always helpful.
Shawna Sveinson notes the billet program is great for families with kids as the bond between the two is something special.
The Ice Dogs have put a heavy emphasis on volunteering and integrating with the community and Fadden stresses the kids become instant members of the family.
Coach Kurt Walsten also ensures the kids are following the rules and helping with family needs.
Dillon Sveinson had 20-year-old’s Matt Houston and Kyle Pouncy living with him last season.
He says he loved playing mini-stick hockey with the guys and notes being around them was a lot of fun.
To become a billet contact Shawna Fadden at 220-4100 or Shawna Sveinson 216-7154.
