The new Director of Scouting and Hockey Operations for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs has made his first moves.
Wayne Labrie has announced the signing of 18-year-old forward Evan Walls.
Walls is from North Vancouver and played last season with the Kamloops Storm of the KIJHL where he was named Rookie of the Year.
Walls recorded 14-goals and 18-assists in 43-games and had an outstanding playoff where he finished with 16-points in 11-games.
Labrie calls him a solid addition to this year’s forward group with his ability to push the pace, noting he is also a strong competitor.
Walls says he’s excited about the upcoming season and having an opportunity to play for the Dudley Hewitt Cup and possibly play as an Ice Dog for a national title in his home province of B.C.
He adds he looks forward to embracing his new home away from home.
The Ice Dogs have also signed defenceman Evan Cusmano from the Virden Oil Capitals of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
The 19-year-old is from Abbotsford, B.C. and is listed as 6’2, 172-pounds.
Cusmano recorded 2-goals and 2-assists last season in 37-games and amassed 34-penalty minutes.
Before that, he played with the Weyburn Red Wings in the Saskatchewan League.
