Ice Dogs Trade For Big Defenceman

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs have added some size on the blueline.

The two time defending SIJHL champions have acquired Carter Brown from the Oceanside Generals of the VIJHL.

The 20-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta is 6’5, 215-pounds and has experience playing in the Saskatchewan and B.C. Junior Hockey Leagues.

In 42-games last year, Brown recorded three goals, eight assists and 148-penalty minutes.

Coach Kurt Walsten says Brown will be one of the best defencemen in the league this upcoming season, calling him a strong two-way player who will see a lot of playing time.

Walsten says he will be tough to compete against because of his size and will be an asset to the team both on and off the ice.

He calls Brown a leader and is focused on keeping the Bill Salonen Cup in Dryden.

Brown says his hockey career has been a journey and he looks forward to being an Ice Dog and making the most of his time in Dryden.
