Council in Ignace is entering the Township into the site selection process for a used nuclear fuel repository.
Treasurer Wayne Hanchard says Council spent nearly two years studying the project.
Hanchard says the made trips to a number of places including the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s office in Toronto.
He adds a number of studies will be conducted in the coming years to determine if Ignace is a suitable site for the repository.
The process could take up to ten years to complete.
