Ignace Mayor Addresses Federal Budget

The Mayor of Ignace wants the Federal Government to include a fairness in funding plan for small communities when the Budget is presented later this month.
Lionel Cloutier has passed along his concerns to Kenora Conservative MP Greg Rickford.
Cloutier stressed that small communities with declining population keep getting less and less for infrastructure because the current plan is based on population.
He’s asking for a set amount of funding adequate to undertake a typical infrastructure project.
Cloutier adds funding rules should also be changed so that local communities can get funding for consultants, engineers and architects to ensure projects are “construction-ready.”
