If you ever think that your pets don’t know what day it is……think again.
Pets are smart – especially when you’re not.
It was just another day yesterday…..wasn’t it? Nothing special or so I thought. Another Thursday which is now in the books. As I wrapped up my busy day yesterday and prepared to retire for the night, Dexter – my golden retriever came to the bedroom wagging his tail but not looking quite as content as he usually does. After a couple of minutes of not getting much attention he left the room. No big deal. He was just done and ready to go to sleep like the rest of us….right?
One last look for me at social media before closing the eye lids and….there it was. CKDR afternoon host Brad Best had posted earlier in the day on Thursday about it being ‘National Love Your Pet Day’. I. Didn’t. Know.
And then I discovered something else. I had only left my phone unattended in the truck in the afternoon and then on the end table at night for a few minutes while Dexter was around it. D-dog could not have possibly seen and understood Brad’s post….could he? Or maybe Dexter just knew that this was his day….designated to bring him some extra attention? And that might explain this picture I found on my phone. I don’t recall taking it. Dexter couldn’t have possibly asked someone passing by to help him with a selfie….or could he? Perhaps someone else’s pet walking by helped out?
