Impaired Driver Flees From Police

A drunk driver faces a number of charges after evading the Kenora OPP.

Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver last Friday morning (July 22) around 1:30.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but it failed to pull over

The OPP says they followed for a short distance before disengaging because the situation became too dangerous for other drivers.

Eventually, police were able to locate the vehicle and arrested the driver.

46 year old Gene Turcotte of Winnipeg faces impaired driving charges, flight from police, failure to comply with a police demand, resisting police, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, and driving while under suspension.

He’s due to appear in Kenora Court at a later date.
