Canada’s Minister of State for Transport has heard from local leaders about a new federal infrastructure program.
Stephen Fletcher met with municipal, tourism and business leaders in Kenora yesterday.
He says they want to find out how they can make the next program better.
The current infrastructure program will run out in 2014, and Fletcher says most of the feedback he received suggests a new program should last for at least 10 years.
Fletcher notes no financial terms were discussed during the meeting.
Fletcher says most of the feedback suggests the new infrastructure program needs to be more flexible to reflect the needs of local communities.
Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttall represented Dryden at the meeting.
