Innovative Learning Initiative Launched At New Prospect School

21st Century learning is being introduced at New Prospect School in Dryden.

Instructor Theresa Lambert says they are transforming part of their library into a so-called “Maker Space”.

Lambert says the space is a creative and innovative learning tool aimed at improving science, technology, engineering and math skills. (STEM)

She notes the area will be designed to provoke curiosity, perseverance, problem solving skills, teamwork and creativity.

Lambert says it will include several hands-on challenges that students have to complete.

She adds in this day of age, students often rely on technology to solve their problems, instead of thinking outside the box.

Lambert says New Prospect School would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Home Hardware for donating tools, pegboard and building materials for the student-led design work.

She is also thanking Downtown Dollar for supplying sewing and craft material and John Carlucci at the Centre for printing the design posters for the Maker Space.
