A coroner says a decision to hold an inquest into the death of a 41-year-old North Spirit Lake First Nation man won’t be made until other investigations are complete.
The SIU had stated that 4-investigators would be sent to Red Lake to probe the incident.
But Doctor Michael Wilson says in this case, it’s not clear if the man’s death arose out of his time in OPP custody.
The unnamed man died Monday at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, a week after OPP officers took him to a Red Lake jail cell.
The SIU hasn’t said why the man was taken into custody or how he died.
Inquest Held Off For Now
