Officials in Sioux Lookout are keeping a close eye on the condition of Town Beach.
The Municipality says it was notified of some sort of contaminant on the sand and authorities with the Northwestern Health Unit, Spills Action Centre and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change were immediately contacted.
The source and type of contamination is unknown and investigations are underway.
Barricades have been set-up around the affected area as a precautionary measure.
Officials say there’s no reason to believe Pelican Lake is impacted and there’s no known risk to drinking water.
