The provincial government is spending just under a million dollars to help protect children in the Kenora District.
Services Board Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall says the $927,871 will help them reopen programs in a safe manner.
Wall says the investment will allow the KDSB to support their operators across the district with enhanced Personal Protection Equipment.
He adds it helps cover the additional costs of following public health guidelines and ensuring that their childcare programs are safe.
Wall stresses “We’re taking every single precaution necessary to ensure that we don’t have an outbreak in a childcare centre. We understand it’s more costly to do so. So us and the province are working hard together to ensure that those costs aren’t borne by the families who need those childcare spots.”
The funding announcement was made by Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford in Dryden Tuesday.
