This week CKDR is taking a look at the Federal election and the important issues impacting the Kenora Riding.
Today we ask the candidates to pick an issue of importance to them.
Conservative Greg Rickford picked Government support for small businesses.
Rickford says his party has committed to keeping taxes low for small businesses along with offering hiring credits.
He adds the Red Tape Commission has great appeal for small businesses to cut through some of barriers for opening up.
Liberal Roger Valley says the issue of choice is knowing the riding.
Valley says you need to elect somebody that’s born and raised here and knows the Riding.
He notes people need the confidence that they can approach you at any time.
Tania Cameron of the NDP says addressing the shortage of health care professionals is her main concern.
Cameron adds the lack of affordable housing needs to be addressed as well.
Independent Kelvin Chicago-Boucher wanted to apologize for not being around to speak to all voters.
He says running as an independent is difficult, but he plans to get the voice out if elected.
Green Party candidate Mike Schwindt says First Nations issues are his main concern.
He notes there needs to be a level playing field in education funding and notes remote communities should no longer have to rely on diesel generators for energy.
We head to the polls on Monday.
