The Federal Government is being asked to make sure forest companies live up to their commitment to mills and communities in Northern Ontario.
NDP leader Jack Layton has wrapped up a three day tour of the North.
He says companies like AbitibiBowater shouldn’t be allowed to sell off assets like power dams to other private companies, considering they were built with public money.
Layton adds more needs to be done to help local communities with the downturn in the economy.
