Sadly we share with you the passing of our loved one- husband, father, brother and papa to four beautiful grandchildren. On June 18, 2010, Jerry Peters passed away at home, which he lovingly referred to as his cabin in the woods.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Susan, two daughters: Tracy (Rob) Walter of Dryden, Theresa (Mike) Peters-Burns of Toronto and his four grandchildren, who were his pride and joy- Stefani, Michelle and Brennan Walter of Dryden and Michael Jr. Burns of Toronto. Jerry will be dearly missed by a loving sister Kathy Ferreira of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Barb (Wayne) Martin of Edmonton, brother-in-law John (Diane) of Calgary and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Nels & Theresa Peters of Winnipeg and beloved daughter Tammy, who passed at the age of seven.
Family and a dedication to work were his top priorities. He spent twenty-three years with Canada Safeway, working in Winnipeg and Portage La Prairie, eighteen years operating the Twin Towers restaurant and gas bar in Dryden, and the past five years working for the Kenora District Services Board in Dryden. Jerry had a passion for the outdoors and loved walking in the woods, whether it be alone, with his son-in-law Rob Walter or special friend Dave Huckel. His love for his grandchildren was deep and he formed special bonds with all of them. His dog, Buddy, was at his side until the end. Our hearts are breaking now, but we have forty years of memories to hold on to. “Safe in the arms of Jesus”.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 24th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church with Pastor James Wood officiating.
