The Federal Finance Minister says he’s not willing to declare the recession over quite yet.
Speaking in Kenora, Jim Flaherty says while economic signs are improving, it could be a few more months before there is real evidence of growth in the economy.
Flaherty says the Harper government is prepared to continue their economic stimulus package into 2011 to ensure there is continued economic growth.
He also admitted an autumn election is a distinct possibility.
He suggests that most Canadians aren’t anxious for an election as the opposition parties are.
Flaherty says he would prefer to wait to have an election in 2010 after the Vancouver Winter Olympics are over.
