Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan is stepping down from cabinet.
But he will retain his seat as a member of parliament.
Duncan resigned after improperly advocating to a tax court on behalf of a constituent.
His cabinet duties will be handled temporarily by Heritage
Minister James Moore.
After Finance Minister Jim Flaherty improperly promoted a
business in his riding, Duncan’s office located a character
reference on behalf of a constituent to a tax court judge.
Kenora MP Greg Rickford says he’s shocked by the news and will provide further comment later.
Rickford is the parliamentary secretary of Aboriginal Affairs.
