With heavy hearts, Chuck and Pat Abela announce the loss of our Son-in-law, John E. Hickok, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on November 9, 2013, in Vale, N. Carolina, at the age of 39 years.
John is survived by his wife Gail (nee Abela), his four children, Abigail Sue-Jean (10), Micah Timothy (7), Faith Esther (3) and Andrew James (1), all of Vale, N. Carolina, his parents Edward John Hickok and Karen Sue Hickok of Akron Ohio., a sister, Jennifer DePree (Carl) of Maryland, a niece, Madeline Page DePree of Maryland, Grandmother, Velma Louise Hickok of Akron.
John was born in Akron, Ohio where he grew up. John and Gail were married in Ohio in 2001, where they resided until they came to Canada in 2006. John was a driving instructor in Sioux Lookout and Dryden while in Canada. In 2010 he moved his family to Dallas, Texas where he attended Christ for the Nations Bible Institute and become a licensed chaplain. He was a loving husband who absolutely adored his four children. His first priority was Jesus Christ and he finished well.
A funeral service was held on November 14, 2013 at 2:30 at the Mountain View Mennonite Church in Vale N. Carolina. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
