A former Prime Minister is being recognized as a friend and champion of the Lake of the Woods-Rainy Lake Watershed.
Funeral services for John Turner, who passed away last month, will be held Tuesday.
Todd Sellers with the Lake of the Woods Sustainability Foundation says Turner had a strong passion for the watershed
“He once said to me that we are fortunate to have a great share of the world’s water,” recounts Sellers.
“We have to consider it a gift that we have been given as a trust for future generations and Lake of the Woods is a majestic piece of that great gift.”
Sellers made his comments during a virtual meeting of the International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board.
