John Vost

John Heath Vost came to Dryden during the 1930s with his mother and older sister. John’s older sister married a William Dixon of Dryden. It is not known what became of the Vost family after John’s death in Europe.

At home in Dryden before going overseas, John Vost and Denver Pearson. Denver came home – John didn’t.

 

John enlisted in the Lake Superior Regiment in July of 1940 and went overseas in 1942.

He married an English girl, Florence “Carol,” while in England in WW2. According to Veteran’s Affairs, she later lived in Dryden.

John was killed in action at age 21 in Belgium Oct 30, 1944.
